Tony Markos responds:

Thanks Janet. The Yourdon methodology is great!

Yourdon is a real street fighter. His approach: rapid
iterations. Thats why the curved lines in Yourdon
DFDs: Don't take the time to draw straight lines;
quickly, with pencil, draw curved lines and then get
back out there with the user and walk through your
latest iteration.

For those who say that I am too gun-ho about DFD's, I
remember when I went through the Yourdon course on
DFDs. Our instructor was like a firery evangelical
Pastor. He would stand in front of the class and wave
a copy of Yourdon's "Gospel" above his head, as he
passionately espoused the principles of DFDs.

I used to converse with a lady who was a former
Yourdon instructor. She referred to those who
followed "the word" as people who have the "Yourdon
fervor." To face the dangers of DFDing that I
referred to in a previous posting, one has to be very
fervent about DFDing - and the Yourdon people know it.
