I see nothing underhanded about it. Before I interviewed with my current
company, I checked them out on Google, and I would expect them to do the
same about me. Much can be gleaned from the Web about my professional
experience and opinions, and I consider it to be public information.

Quick question: how much Googlable information is there about the
average person? Where does it come from? Maybe it's because I don't have
a personal website, but the only links I've found to myself (and there
are a lot of people with my name) are the (very infrequent) postings
I've made to Techwr-l - and that's after being pretty internettish since
the mid-90s. Just wondering...
