To recover from this setback, re-enact the call, out loud, on the phone. At this point, instead of saying "Pardon me?", say with utter indifference,
"Thanks for calling, but I have to go. Bye-ee." *click*
Do this several times a day, every day, to cultivate the reflex, until you're confident that you won't get sucked in by the next telephone racketeer playing the 'personal insult' card.
Don't you play "mock risk" games? This one is pretty good, I'm practicing it already :-)
