Re: the calculator recommended at http://www.comtech-serv.com/dependency_calculator.htm , I believe if we'd
quoted 5 hours per page for "average" situations, we wouldn't have done well
in today's market, and we have. That timing is very "bloated" in my opinion.
I saw an earlier quote that mentioned 2.5 hours per page. Over time, with
some of the issues covered in the calculator, that quote has proven a little
aggressive, particularly with geographically disperse work teams.
As with any tool, the calculator is a little one dimensional, not taking
into account a good product development life cycle. If you don't have that
(which JoAnn spends considerable time in her book explaining), you won't
even make it in 5 hours per page.
