Seriously though, a few thoughts:
1. You mentioned ESL. Just how many languages do you know? Maybe they
are competing for attention when you write. I experienced that way back
when I was studying a few different languages. Is English your first
language? (just wondering - I can't really tell).
2. I always figured 90% of my work time was spent just figuring stuff
out, while less than 10% is spent visibly writing. That's why I prefer
to speak of "developing" a document rather than writing it. Are you
counting analysis time as writing time?
