Even before identity theft became an issue, anything I ever read on writing a resume suggested not putting things like a social security number (social insurance number in Canada) or a birthdate on a resume.

Generally, that is information an employer will only need when they actually extend an offer of employment. No need to provide it before then.

I fail to understand why anyone would put their date of birth and
Social Security number in an online resume. Without those two numbers,
identity theft is made much more difficult.
