RE: Part of QA WAS: Software Development Documents
Hi-- How many tech writers here have done this as part of the QA team? Are
you usually under the project lead?
I live and breathe software development documents. I am not a PART of the QA team -- I am THE QA team! I live in a funny little world, where we build software for in-house only use. Our team of 10 has no testers except for myself. It makes my job interesting.
Although I am sort of under the project lead, no one really tells me what to do -- I just make sure the documentation is written and ready when it is required. I often have drafts completed long before our manager realizes that they should be written.
As far as templates -- it is tough to find generic software templates, since each one can vary depending on your type of software development. A good resource for templates and information is www.stickyminds.com. A good reference manual is Software Requirements by Karl Wiegers.
