I think you answered your own question, Lynne. And I agree with you.

If they know their stuff, they shouldn't have a problem with a short test. It's the ones who don't know their stuff who are going to run into trouble.

What would be the point in spelling out to candidates exactly what to
expect in a test? What are they going to do? Spend the next week
studying grammar books and losing sleep, as though they are high school
kids facing algebra finals?
