Hi Chad,

Click the More button to extend the Replace dialog and then the Special button at the bottom of the dialog box. This gives a whole new list of replaceable items, the top one of which is a paragraph return.

I've had to do something similar. First replace all occurrences of two consecutive para returns with a treble asterisk, or similarly unlikely to occur anywhere else combination, then replace al single para returns with a single space. Then replace all treble asterisks with a para return.

HTH,
Ant

Hello TWers,

Question:

In MS Word, is there a way to do a search and replace for a "return"? It
seems funny that you can use other non-characters such as spaces but you
cannot use a return.

Anyone have a suggestion as to a better way of doing this?

Thanks much!

Chad
