With a prior employer, where the doc group I was
assigned to wrote internal documentation only, the
editor (actually a writer, not an "editor" in the true
sense of the title) was credited as such in each book.
There was also an acknowledgements page that listed
those employees who had made significant contributions
to the document's content.

So for those of you who work on internal stuff, you
might approach management with the proposal that you
want to give credit to the people who've made the
documentation as valuable as it is.
