Regarding 'beautiful books' just because something isn't beautiful it
doesn't mean it's ugly. There is a wide spectrum between the two and for
most people 'good looking' is fine! It doesn't have to be a work of art
to look good and create an initial good impression. If it's also (as
well as looking good) accurate, well laid out etc then it's well on the
way to being an effective document.
