Why not do both? I do. Big old heavy paper portfolio if they want to
see paper, and a nice little CD that I can leave with the interviewer.

And BTW... often, if you tell people you are bringing in your CD
portfolio of work, they will arrange to have a laptop available so they
can look at it during the interview.
