Expo makes some nice ones. I have one in my office (4'x6') that works
quite well and is about 8-9 years old. It's a thin porcelain surface
over steel backing, so it's both smooth and magnetic. The trick is to
clean them regularly, and to use a better brand of dry erase marker
(Expo makes very good ones, as does Marks-A-Lot).
Of course, in our project rooms we have projectors and SMART boards,
in addition to regular ol' white boards. Very handy, especially when
you want to quickly capture a brainstorming session's output on the
board.
