There used to be this tutorial called Voodoo's Intro to JavaScript.
It's almost ten years old and is out of date, but the basics are there
and it was well done. That's how I picked up the rudimentary "Hello,
world"-level information. It went dead, but it's mirrored everywhere.
http://oopweb.com/JavaScript/Documents/jsintro/Volume/tutorial.htm is
the first location that came up on a search.

And it's not a tutorial, but I find http://javascript.faqts.com to be
great for trying to figure out how to do something specific. Same goes
for php.faqts.com, mysql.faqts.com - too bad there's not a
cooking.faqts.com, too. And nothing beats having the MS Jscript core
reference open in another window while you work.
