I am registered with LinkedIn (http://linkedin.com). What I would be doing is using LinkedIn to attempt to locate someone connected to (either as current or former employee of) the unnamed company and attempt to make contact. There were two jobs posted recently that I did just that with and managed to reach TWs who had been with the subject companies -- I got enough lowdown to decide not to apply for those positions, even allowing for possible sour grapes on the part of my contacts.

There are other networking tools on the net, but LinkedIn is the one I've found that is most geared to professional networking.

One other possibility occurs to me. Sometimes, a company has someone in mind for a job, but are obliged to advertise it. Now, this does not explain the repetitition, unless they keep targeting people who then refuse their offers.....

applied for the job.
