My company is about 80 people. I'm not sure how many are engineers. I'm
the only tech writer.
My situation is different, though. We already have some documentation,
and we don't need a lot right away. At the moment, the software we make
is mostly used by us, to develop systems for outside customers. We
definitely want to sell it, but for the moment most customers want us to
deal with the hassles. It makes money, so we don't complain.
I do work hard, but I don't have people making impossible demands.
I think your issue is really one of realistic expectations. If your
company needs a certain amount of work done, and isn't willing to
provide the time, money, and people to do the work, then the work won't
get done.
You would have to be more specific for me to give you any more opinion
on the situation.
Joe

I have an urgent request... I need to see how this software company of
approx. 80 employees compares with similar sized software companies,
with respect to techwriters.
