Assuming document is open.


Click View > Header/Footer

You will see the 'Header Field" displayed, plus a 'bar' that has information.

There is a "#", "++" at the beginning of the bar.

switch to footer

Click on the "#", enter space, enter "of' enter space, click on "++"

You should see the correct page numbering.

Some times it is best to use the built in functionality of Word, that trying
to adjust using 'fields' to do some of the work.
