While it is true that it is writing that happens
on the list and that happens to be our bread and
jam (contrast with a newsgroup of linux
enthusiasts or philosophers)

True but a bit of caution is in order. I know
people who search high and low to post an answer,
I know one for sure does so (no prizes for
guessing who he is :-)

Not so, really: I get damned quite often by
people... "oh you write such long emails on the
list" So, do you mind?

I know a manager in India who hates people who
appear active on the Indian writers list (because
they are spending time on it instead of doing
their job). Presumably monitoring the list and
hating folks on it is part of _her_ job description!
