Project 11: developing a new ISO standard for managers of user documentation.
Professional technical writers are invited to participate in the development of a new suite of international standards for technical communicators: http://www.hci.com.au/iso/project_11/
I know nothing about this project other than what appears on their Web site, but I suspect that if it works, having an ISO standard attached to our profession will provide a measure of credibility among engineers and other worshippers of standards that certification from a professional society would take much longer to achieve.
