I use Acrobat 6 and Excel 2000 each month to produce a multi-sheet PDF.

FIrst, I disabled the auto startup of the distiller.

Set up a color laser jet driver that prints to file. I downloaded an
HP color pritner driver, and use that.

Select the Excel sheets with shift key held down. Then print to color
printer. Give the file a name, and you end up with "filename.ps."

I run the acrobat distiller separately, and drag this .ps file to the
distiller. Works almost every time.

A fair amount of time went into preparing the Excel worksheets, so
that the information is formatted to a legible font size when printed,
and so on. I have many charts embedded also.
