In our group we often refer to the reader of our documentation as the
"customer" or "client" -- and usually distinguish readers as "internal"
and "external" clients or customers. I ran "user" through Thesaurus.com
just for giggles and grins, and didn't come up with anything that really
knocked my socks off.
