Thanks for posting a most excellent reference! I agree with everything
that Eric Raymond says.

I would like to add to his rules:

If you do your homework and see a solution that *you think might* work,
but doesn't apply *exactly* to your problem, and you try it and it
*doesn't* work, don't post a reply that simply says "It doesn't work for
me." No solution works for all problems! And posting that it "doesn't
work for me" lacks information; *prove* that you had *exactly* the same
problem and applied *exactly* the same solution.
