Chicago 13, 5.8 (Lists) says "Use a period without parentheses

list." The illustration is a standard list. Also, Chicago 13,
8.73 (Numbers: Outline Style), says "For long enumerations it
is preferable to begin each item on a line by itself. The numerals
are aligned on the periods that follow them." The illustration is
