Seems you need 8.1 to do what you want.

11 July, 2006: SnagIt v8.1.0

* Added support for Windows XP Professional x64.
* Added the ability to insert Flash content into MS PowerPoint and
MS Word.
* Added access to profiles through the system tray icon.
* Updated the PowerPoint add-in with a new Flash button for
inserting Flash into PowerPoint.
* Updated the COM server with all of SnagIt's latest features.
* Changed the callout tool to create vector objects.
---->>>* Changed the selection tool to allow filters and effects to
be applied to multiple selections of an image.
* Fixed problem that OpenType fonts weren't available for the text
tool.
* Fixed bug where the system tray balloon tip was displaying in the
wrong location.
* Fixed SnagIt's slow startup problem.
* Dropped support for Windows NT 4.

Personally, I like the functionality of WinPointer -- got it free from
PC Magazine years ago, when they still saw the Net more as place to
share than to....but I digress). Anyway, the latest iteration is at
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1735444,00.asp. If you hunt a bit,
you might still find a free copy, too.

Subject: SnagIT question

Hi All,

I'm using SnagIT 7, and wondering if there is a way to select multiple
areas on the same jpg for the Spotlight & Magnify feature. For example,
I have two areas that I want to highlight using the "Dim Background"
feature, but unless there is a way to select them both simultaneously, I
can only do one.

I don't want to have to draw circles using Microsoft Turd's (sorry, it's
been a bad Word day for me and someone I was trying to help earlier)
shapes feature.

Does anyone know if there is a way?

Thanks,
Brian
