Julia,
I assume that you're importing, rather than keying in, the new text.
If so, place the cursor where the new text should begin and instead of a
simple "Paste" (via Ctrl V), do a "Paste Special" (Edit > Paste
Special); choose "text" from the list in the drop-down box and you're on
your way.
This works for me.
If you're keying in new text and the weird formatting thing happens, try
highlighting the entire paragraph, and checking the "Character Format"
parameters to make sure they are what you thought they are supposed to
be. (Bad grammar, but you get the idea).
And Bill Swallow's suggestion works, too.

Subject: About the font of the newly inserted text
Hi, All,
I run across a strange problem in Framemaker.
While I am inserting new text into a papragrph, the new text assumes a
new character font, instead of that of the paragraph.
And I have to apply paragraph format each time I insert text...
BTW, this happens only from time to time...
Any suggestions is appreciated,
Julia
