Hi Richard,

I've always used 2080 and that includes for everything from developing proposal
s in response to government solicitations (sounds dirty), for developing startu
p and strategic business plans and for contract services (both as the contracto
r and the contractee).   You have about 174 hours in a month (40 hours a week x
 4.33 weeks [the average number of weeks per month])....174 x 12 = 2078 (rounde
d up to 2080 for convenience).  Of course this figure does not take into accoun
t time spent at the coffee pot or water fountain, or discussing the local high 
school football game, what you did on summer vacation, or who's going to win th
e next American Idol.
