I think Americans tolerate older men better than they tolerate older women.
Just watch the TV news. How many older women do you see? And I think the
same goes for movies.

My solution (as an "older" woman) is to work as a contractor. My impression
is that companies are more willing to accept older folks as contractors as
opposed to employees. I've been fortunate enough to keep busy working as an
independent consultant and have come to prefer it to being an employee.
