Firstly, my fullest apology to the victim or relatives if I have caused offense.
I think an apology is also due to whoever created the map for the implication in the original subject line that they were in
any way responsible for that death.
I have no experience of American mountains but I have driven extensively in the European Alps and always check weather
and traffic reports before I start out, especially in Spring and Autumn (Fall) as there is no official start/end to Winter for the
weather.
