Thanks. This is the kind of help we need. He has been picking up our
standards quickly. Many colleges also have courses for non-native speakers,
and it may be that he can find a course in a more typical setting.

In your spot, I'd do these things:
Look for patterns and structures that you can
standardize, and get him to use those as much as
possible.
Find an English for Specific Purposes instructor that
he can work with over there (try the British Council).
Ideally, make contact with the instructor and
collaborate, needs analysis, instruction, goals, and
evaluation.
Supplement the editing on your end with feedback that
can be used for instructional purposes.
