"trustworthy companies with which to work"

I don't think that such a thing exists. I've never met a company that I would trust. I think that it is because that they know that companies that are seeking employees are the client-base and the income source and that employees are always available and easily dispensible. I do not like being treated like a tool by another company. I think that if a list of companies did exist, then most of the companies would get branded as untrustworthy. A list that ranks different companies could be good to find the least bad of a selection, but the list should also include name changes and personnel changes. Many companies use different names to sound new, but they are really the same old bad place. Like this company that didn't like it's trip to the Labor Commissioner (DLSE), courtesy of me, just before it abandoned its name in 2002.

They said that they were changing names before we had the "issue" but the timing was probably bad anyway. They also blamed their change for the delayed pay. Perhaps the list can include links to state and county records for corporate, LLC, or other legal status and fictitious names, so people can really know who they are dealing with.

Subject: Techie's List

With all this talk about recruitment agencies, and which ones are good or
bad, I'm wondering what value there would be in a site like Angie's List:

<http://www.angieslist.com/AngiesList/>

A place where a tech writer - maybe IT consultants in general - could go to
view feedback and opinions regarding recruitment agencies. With a little
wordsmithing, the Techie's List splash page could read as follows:

"Techie's List is a word-of-mouth network for consultants. It's a growing
collection of tech writers' real-life experiences with local recruitment
agencies. The people who join Techie's List are like you - looking for a way
to find trustworthy companies with which to work. Rather than digging
through news lists' archives, they check Techie's List to find out what
people in their area are saying about the companies they've contracted
with."

Does a site like this exist now?
