Hi Susan,

You could take one of the indexing classes available, the ASI site list
most, in addition to reading some of the available literature. It's
important to note that many persons actually write a concordance and think
it's an index; it isn't. Good luck if you decide to pursue the field.

Look inside this book from Amazon is a good way to see some indexes. Oh, for
the average indexer, it takes a bout 2-3 years to really start making a
living from indexing.
