I'm sure I'll get hammered by the community for this, but....
Do you WANT to manage a group of writers?  Not everyone does and if you
don't and you end up writing less, you're not going to be happy.
If it were me, I'd closely examine what I want to accomplish in my
career and with the company.  At some places it's perfectly acceptable
to be a writer and not a manager of people, at others it isn't.
