TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
CHMs are designed to be installed locally. Outlook, et al., identify
CHMs as a potentially dangerous file type.
IMHO if you want to have your help on a network server, look into
something other than CHM, such as HTML-based help, WebWorks Help,
WebHelp, etc.

Keith,
If you find a way to easily acces CHMs from a network, please post to
the list! I've never been able to get it to work, so I've always used
Webhelp as the output. In the past, when I tried CHM from a server, I
would ALWAYS get a download dialog, even if it had already been
downloaded. That issue might have been resolved, but I just switched to
web help and never really looked back....
