There's a difference between what customers require & what they prefer. And you may work with different types of customers who have different requirements and preferences.
For example, you could have a company as a customer that requires - for auditing purposes - documentation that can be printed. This might be something specified on an RFP. You could satisfy this requirement through a PDF distributed electronically.
However, the end users of your documents (the employees at the company) may prefer to receive printed guides. Electronically-distributed PDFs wouldn't satisfy this preference.
