Hi all,

I will be contacting some folks in Japan and wondered how I should
open my email since we have not yet become acquainted.

In the States, I'd do:

Dear Ms. So-And-So,

What is the protocol for Japan? I'll be inquiring about business to a
woman. I only mention this gender because I do not know if there are
cultural subtleties when communicating with persons of a particular
gender.

Thank you,

Rob
