Subject:Unable to publish WebHelp files on the server From:"Prashanth Menon" <prashanthv -dot- menon -at- gmail -dot- com> To:TECHWR-L <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Thu, 31 May 2007 19:02:24 +0530
Hi All:
In my company, the online help review process is fairly simple. I use
a server box to publish the WebHelp files. The reviewers access the
online help, navigate to the topics they own, and send me their
feedback via email. This has been working very well for us.
Recently I installed SharePoint Portal Server (SPS) 2003 on this
server. Nowadays "404 File not found error" is displayed every time
the reviewers access the Help. Does anyone know why?
I have created a "OLH" folder within the server root folder for
publishing the files. When I enter the servername alone in the
browser, SPS home page is displayed. However, access is denied (404)
to the Help pages both from within and outside the server.
In a stopgap arrangement, I have installed Apache on my desktop and
exposed these files for review. I am still looking for a reason why
the server is not letting me to publish the Help files.
