#2 does not address how the data becomes persistent but the task is to get
data into its persistent status with as few words as possible. Developers
are not known for enjoying lengthy technical documents. So #2 does not
escape the need to state, "persist some data."
#3 is repetitive with "existing" and "persistent." Persistent data does
exist, it cannot not exist, so there is no such thing as "non-existent"
persistent data.
#7 should read, "retrieve the "persisted data" from the database."
The way I'm reading developers' use of the term, persisted data is data that
is persisted through persistence when an application persists it.
To persist or not to persist, that is the question.
