I haven't used the product, but YAWCPro (http://www.yawcpro.com/ ) is
supposed to convert Word docs to XML too. Quote: "YAWC ships with
support for the Simplified DocBook XML DTD, but any other DTD can be
supported with a small amount of configuration work."
At US$220 for a single license, it may be a little expensive, unless
you have lots and lots of documents to convert, and this plugin saves
you lots of effort. They also have an evaluation and a Lite version: http://www.yawcpro.com/download/index.htm
Create HTML or Microsoft Word content and convert to Help file formats or
printed documentation. Features include support for Windows Vista & 2007
Microsoft Office, team authoring, plus more. http://www.DocToHelp.com/TechwrlList
True single source, conditional content, PDF export, modular help.
Help & Manual is the most powerful authoring tool for technical
documentation. Boost your productivity! http://www.helpandmanual.com
