Sure is.
-Select the characters to be changed.
-On the Characters tab of the Type palette, use the Font Size
control to reduce the size by 20-30%
-Also on the Characters tab of the Type palette, use the
Baseline Shift tool (the bottom, left one with the upward-
pointing arrow) to raise the character(s) by 20-40% of the
base font size.

A quick tool question to tame a renegade illustration that's headed for
Frame: I'm running Adobe Illustrator 9 on a PC. Is there a way to
superscript or subscript individual characters -- or at least fudge
enough to create a convincing facsimile?
