Thanks Barry. I'll keep your suggestions in mind. I'm still defining a
business model for my company and I need to narrow my focus. I setup my
company as a professional documentation service, or something vague like
that. I needed to put something on the business license and articles. I am
narrowing my focus, possibly, to producing documents that request money or
work, then money, essentially.
I'm starting to get the idea that I can get leads just by saying that I like
doing this. And that I have successful business plans, FSR, and proposals
behind me. I had no idea that this was a marketable talent.
Lauren

Subject: Re: Proposal Writing
Lauren,
Congratulations on writing your first winning proposal (the first of
many, I hope!)
Many professional proposal writers and managers came from a
technical writing background; I'm one of them.
Check to see whether there's a chapter of the Association of
Proposal Management Professionals (http://www.apmp.org) near you. Both the
international APMP group and many chapters have websites with good resources
for people who are interested in pursuing this as a career.
Here are two interesting things about proposal writing.
(1) Most people hate doing it; if you like it, and can convey your
enthusiasm for it, you can get hired pretty easily, in my experience.
(2) Most organizations don't put proposals together all that well;
if you are in a sales situation where the written proposal can really make a
difference (not all jobs that go out for bid are in this category!) then
*you* can really make a difference.
