The "Tech Writer Turned Business Analyst" thread prompted me to ask another question about titles.

Karen's job description matches what I've been doing for six months (use case modeling, UML methodology, use case diagrams, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, and class diagrams). This is in addition to all of the regular tech writing duties.

Someone higher up in the company decided that I should be promoted and take on the tasks listed above permanently...or until I collapse in a heap, whichever comes first. There's a few twists to this though.

1. I have to come up with my own job title.
2. I'll have three direct reports (two tech writers and another BA).
3. I can't call myself a "Manager" (or above) because I report to a manager, and the company can't promote him at this time.

So what do you call a tech writer who is in charge of the technical publications department when you can't use the "M" word?
