The conclusion being jumped to invariably is that the group-think is
the opposite of whatever the responders personal politics are. :p

Actually, I'd have to add that the OP has the duty to not hire the
candidate based on #2 and the candidate should possibly be relieved
because of it. However, the OP then has the responsibility to evaluate
and possibly re-align the team dynamics.
Time perhaps to encourage a break-up of the "Doc Table" and encourage
social interaction with the rest of the company.
