Please provide an authority for your contention, which I maintain is
incorrect.

Examples:

He had seen and loved her from the start.
She must have wanted to be singing French songs and strolling through the
park.
He will have woken up, taken a shower, eaten breakfast, balanced his
checkbook, studied his Greek grammar lesson, consulted his financial
advisor, fed the cat, and done 75 push-ups before his wife opened her eyes.
