Yes, I would. If someone has an issue with an instruction
of mine and brings it up, they should reasonably expect either
an explanation for why the instruction needs to be followed,
or if it turns out the issue is valid, a reconsideration of the
instruction. But flat-out refusing or ignoring the instruction
will inevitably result in our having one of those conversations
where I ask if the person likes working here and would like
to continue to do so. You should never *assume* that your
boss is going to *assume* that you have good reasons for
refusing to follow instructions. That just doubles the
mistake in the old "making an ass out of u and me."
