I thought I saw a recent thread discussing styles in Word 2007 that described a new wrinkle in how styles are built. I thought the thread said that styles based on "no style" were not permitted.

I just got a hold of a test pc loaded with 2007 and then opened up one of our templates to do some testing. I had expected lots of nasty surprises and while I'm still confident that the nasty surprises are just around the corner, the 'based on' issue did not behave the way I expected. I guess I thought that Word would automatically substitute something other than "no style" (like for instance Normal) in the "Style based on" box.

Can someone with a better recall (or deleted items folder) refresh my memory on this one?

At this point, opening the template in 2007 seems to have no impact at all. Are there any other potential land mines I should be sniffing for?

Regards,
