PROS:
Working with engineers and other SMEs in science, medicine, and other technological fields. It's often very interesting details, and the technology is always changing.
CONS:
A lot of tech writing jobs are being outsourced. IBM revealed the other day that one-fifth of its jobs are now offshore. The future of the TW field is uncertain.
Working with people who are often literally geniuses, but who have very poor social skills. There are a lot of pedantic, pseudo-intellectual blowhards who fancy themselves as being "authors" and "artists".
