French question: "note" vs "remarque"

Here's one for those among you proficient in French:

I'm looking at the English version of a manual, and it has Notes. You
know, it says "Note" and then there's some text telling you some
stuff. Looking at the French version of the manual (which, as far as I
know, is used on both sides of the Atlantic), I see that the same
material (which I identified by location and with a smattering of
French vocab) sometimes says "Note" and sometimes "Remarque". Should
be one or the other, but which is more appropriate?

For context, this is an operator's manual for a medical device --
institutional (rather than home) audience.
