I would suggest joining a local writers' group. That's what I did. That
can help a lot. My submissions -- short stories and read-aloud musings
-- have gotten good reviews from the group members. I have already been
asked if I have ever tried publishing anything. The answer is no. But
the positive feedback has been very encouraging.
