That number is really hard to believe, as most of us receive either in
our inboxes or our spam filters hundreds of spam messages a day.

Perhaps it meant 1 in every 3 mailings, not 1 in 3 individual messages.
Or it may be counting automated transfers to a spam mailbox as
"conversions".
