Hmmm... this is new to me... Fred and you both say this, and Kevin
appears to differ :)

I'd be obliged if you could post a link or two to some informative
material about this memory allocation; I did several Google searches
and all they yielded were queries about how to
increase/decrease/remove memory allocated to shared-memory video
cards, and similar non-useful stuff. Like Kevin, I too was under the
impression that shared memory for video cards was taken from somewhere
"lower" in memory; this is most interesting, and I would like to
remedy my ignorance here - therefore the request for links, if you
would care to share.
